The Circle of Parents program, a component of Project CATCH, offers peer support groups for parents and children, working to reduce isolation by building social connections. The program builds five Protective Factors that strengthen families, reduce stress, and improve outcomes for children: parental resilience, knowledge of parenting and child development, understanding the social and emotional development of children, connecting to concrete resources in times of need, and creating social connections.
We hold separate parent and children's groups at The Salvation Army Center of Hope. The free, structured children’s group provides a safe and supportive environment for kids to develop social and emotional skills.
We are currently looking for volunteers for our weekly groups. We ask that volunteers commit to volunteer at least twice a month. We meet from 6:45pm-8pm when we meet at The Salvation Army shelter. We also hold outings at a community location at least once a month. When we meet in the community, we meet from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Volunteers will assist with setting up, engaging with and getting to know the children and families, facilitating activities, and cleaning up.
To volunteer with Circle of Parents, you will need to complete The Salvation Army Volunteer Application and Background Check. Once those are completed, you will need to complete the Safe from Harm training.
