Are you ready to get involved and make a difference with the local Raleigh community? Join Student Leadership and Engagement at the Walnut Creek Wetland Park in Southeast Raleigh on Thursday, April 15th to help remove invasive plant species. April 15th is an NC State wellness day so there won't be classes and you can enjoy the outdoors while cleaning up invasive species!!
Participants will also get the chance to participate in a leisure bike ride to and from the event, courtesy of bikes rented by Student Leadership and Engagement!! Those that want to participate in the bike ride will meet outside of Carmichael at 9:15 AM the morning of the event. We will leave there at 9:20 AM and bike down the greenway to the Walnut Creek Wetland Park. Participants will also get to enjoy a boxed lunch after the event before biking back, arriving back at Carmichael by 1:30 PM at the latest.
Garden gloves will be provided, but if you feel more comfortable providing your own then make sure to bring them to the event. Make sure to bring a water bottle and a snack to keep you going throughout the day. Plan to wear long pants, clothes that you don't mind getting wet, muddy, or torn, and closed toed shoes you don't mind getting muddy.
There is a waiver that you must FILL OUT AHEAD of time and can be accessed by clicking here. Make sure to bring the filled out waiver with you to the event. You will receive an email from Haley Johnson at hnjohns@ncsu.edu the week of the event as a reminder and to warn you about weather.
