ISSERV (International Students & Scholars Engaged in Reaching out & Volunteering) is a program designed to encourage NC State’s international students, scholars and family members to volunteer in the Raleigh community. By volunteering, internationals interact with Americans and learn more about American culture, while also sharing their own culture.
The Office of International Services (OIS) will be taking a group of international students to the Southeast Raleigh YMCA to assist in their Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service (MLK Day). The YMCA in conjunction with Brown Bag Ministries Mission and the Food Shuttle Backpack Buddies program, we'll be packing backpacks with healthy snacks to send home with kids in our community who need access to food.
Volunteers will serve the BackPack Buddies organization which is designed to provide children from low-income households with 10-12 pounds of nutritious, kid-friendly groceries for the weekend when free school lunches and breakfasts are not provided.
OIS will provide transportation for any students participating in the service project. In the notes, please indicate whether or not you will need transportation and if you would like to be picked up from Talley Student Union or Hunt Library at Centennial Campus. In addition to registering through this site, participants will need to sign-up directly through the YMCA page.
