Magic happens on Friday mornings in Wake County Public Schools. Before the school and work day begin, WakeEd Partnership's Partners Read program volunteers read with two "developing readers" for a total of 30 minutes to help boost students' confidence and enjoyment in reading.
Each week, students pick out one book (provided by WakeEd) to read with their partner, and then they take it home! By the end of the school year, they have 20 new books that they are excited to read outside of school!
This is a unique opportunity. Volunteers read with the same students each week for 10 weeks in the Fall and the Spring, forming special one-on-one relationships that brings joy to both students and volunteers.

October 5, 12, 19, 26 | November 2, 9, 16, 30 | December 7, 14
*All volunteers are required to attend a one-hour training session on Tuesday, September 18th from 5-6pm.
