Who We Are

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was founded on December 4, 1906 at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. It is the first Black Intercollegiate Greek-letter organization. The Eta Omicron Chapter was chartered on the campus of NC State University on April 7, 1971. With the help of Dr. Augustus M. Witherspoon and the Beta Rho Chapter at Shaw University, the Eta Omicron Chapter was the first Black Greek Letter Organization on NC State's campus. The chapter has achieved countless accomplishments and firsts at NC State and continues to push for excellence within our communities. “First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All”.

What We Do

The mission of Alpha Phi Alpha is to develop leaders, promote brotherhood and academic excellence, while providing service and advocacy for our communities. With the aims of Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for all Mankind, Alpha has carried out its mission for over 110 years. Our national programs focus on collegiate matriculation, voter education and registration, as well as the mentorship of young men.
